The FXorcist
A FX loop buffer and attenuation/boost with dedicated send & return levels, and balanced XLR recording out.
Have you ever experienced signal drops and degradation when using FX loop of your amp?
Furthermore, have you ever experienced that certain effects (mostly older ones) are behaving in a weird way when you plug them in FX loop of your amp? Some delay and modulation units will produce crackling sounds, and clip due to higher input signal, that they are not design to handle…
Some FX pedals are designed to be used with instrument level signals, which are let say 3-times lower than a line-level signals provided by your amp’s FX loop.
Most amp’s FX loop’s doesn’t have separate SEND and RETURN level.
The FXorcist allows you to control amount of signal coming out of your FX loop SEND that’s going to your pedals. And the amount of signal coming out of your pedals going to FX loop RETURN and into your power amp.
It basically adds a SEND and RETURN level controls to any amplifier’s FX loop.
Now you can attenuate the signal from your FX loop that’s going into your pedals, and make pedals sound fuller and warmer by feeding them with the amount of signal they are designed for.
Then you can use RETURN level for matching the overall volume level of your amp.
The FXorcist switching is relay-driven and ensures no signal loss, and hum-free operation. Bypass switch is provided so you can bypass the device, and you can use it to match your levels.
First, bypass The FXorcist using bypass switch, set your amp’s volume to desired level. Turn all the controls on the Fxorcist all the way down.
Set the SEND knob for optimal performance with all of your pedals. No more crackling sound in delay repeats, or crackling modulation pedal sounds.
Then set the RETURN knob to match the volume level of the amp with The Fxorcist in bypass(You can do this by using bypass switch).
Now your FX pedals are seeing signal they are designed for.
Also RETURN control can be used as MASTER VOLUME of your amplifier, and by lowering it, you’ll realize that you still get that great sound of cranked amplifier, at much reasonable volume.
The RETURN control doesn’t behave like VOLUME knob on your amplifier, it acts as a MASTER volume for your entire rig.
You can crank your amp’s volume all the way up and lower the RETURN knob and get that great cranked amp sound at bedroom level.
Additionaly, The FXorcist provides balanced XLR output. A fully effected signal coming out of your pedalboard is balanced, splitted and isolated. XLR output has it’s own level knob, and is suited for use with PA mixers and recording consoles and interfaces.
It’s basically a sound of your amp’s preamp section going thru all of your pedals and effects and then balanced. It also features a ground-lift for noise free operation when using with second system that’s not on same power line.
